Which do you belong?

Now, I like to share with you my humble views on local audio community. I believe this is rather universal.

Local fi at RAVE audio show on May 3, 2013

Not in a particular order, fi can be classified to the followings :

NFC stands for No Fxxk Care
NFC buy audio products chuck them at one place and play. They are knowledgeable, believe that the audio products will merit good sound but not through the voodoo of tweaking. They claim that those are silly and largely subjective.

Cable Maniac
CM will always resort to cabling to solve audio related problems. Nothing can beats the thrill of changing cable, instantaneous result, no waiting, not begging people for favour. CM will likely possess big cable stock. They will laugh this time as the copper prices rocketed.

Decoupling Scholar
As the name implies, they place speaker positioning top priority. As long as you don't have play in a square room, position it right, you will get an optimum sound performance. Hard to digest this, let's look at this way. You will want the sound out of the speakers.

This event is powered by Frank Power Bank, so is my system!

Tweaking Wizard
In their own world, tweaking is like black magic. You know, sort of like Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Harry Porter. Mind you, fi in this group have the sharpest ears, very sensitive to sonic changes. Anything that go into the audio system changes sound, it mostly depends if you could pick up the changes and make full use of it.

Mad Engineer
A good chef will not steam an unfresh fish, he will put a lot of seasoning to fry it instead. Premium component, Great sound. ME are also component worshiper. One distinctive habit of ME, they can't wait to open the case and take a look what's inside should they lay their hands on audio component. ME modify audio components to achieve great sound and claims modifying is the highest value ever to good sound.

Chatterbox
Can you convince a Chatterbox? I have my doubts. Chatterbox talks his way out of audio problems. Love him and hate him. Without Chatterbox, audio can be so dry. They are the oasis in the desert.

Someone asked me which do I belong? A little of everything. Shame to admit, I couldn't speaker positioning out of trouble due to deafness, mod out of problem due to lack in technical expertise and lastly talk myself out of problem because lack of knowledge. I feel so helpless sometimes.

No offense.

This system is featuring AirForce One turntable, Viola amplification and Genesis 2.2 Jr.

Playing USD3500 per pair G7.2ps

It was nice to have audio events ahead of the annual KLIAVS. I went to RAVE Systems Event to check out the audio. As usual, the popular figures were presence. Nice to pay respect to audio elders, in return, people recognize my humble existence. To the least, I don't feel alien being there though I like to keep a low profile. I was there early before the crowd.

I self-confessed that I'm turntable dummy. AirForce designer was patiently playing his vinyl collection and showcasing his creation, a translator was there to assist. I was taken aback by the recording quality. O man! In vinyl based system, vinyl recording disparity is so great. On a well recorded vinyl, you see haven. A sin she whispered to me, it is easier to obtain gui qi, loosely translated as noble sound from vinyl based systems. Vinyl has the grace, ease, elegance and the wallop micro and marco dynamic that sets a classy sound that differs from the synthetic digital playback. Other said vinyl got soul. Undeniably, the unique analogue flavor is jitterless.

I don't wish to be a slave to vinyl. Too expensive, too tedious, too much work.

Dual 12" woofer G928 with a MRSP 2600USD to beef up the lower register of G7.2ps

The room was rather damped with fabric skinned foam panel. I have got to praise Genesis ring titanium tweeter for their refined, airy and silky highs. Sweet. The 5.5" titanium cone woofer is equally impressive for their speed and clean sound, they in combo offering a high level of coherence.

Tombo Audio Spikes, anyone?

Enough venom for today?

No one likes uphill battle. Well, no sweat, no glory, right. This is so true. In audio context, you will likely triumph with small room big sound or with a system that handles a specificity extraordinary well, vocals to lush for, soundstage to die for, the list goes on and etc.

A little update, S1 EXs slowing opening up, this puts a smile on my face. I'm starting to hear a glimpse of the TADs that captivates me when I first hear them. S1 EX highs occupies a special place in my sonic memory. When you first hear something which is extraordinary, that memory stays in your head. We all have been through that.

O no...., not another catastrophe..................
