Back to basic

Do you still remember the time you learn audioing from experienced fi, the snooty treatment. You get the look. Those days without internet, learning was difficult. In order to be a learned, be humble, a trait of X gen. I know, I know, I heard bosses were having a hard time with gen Y. Nobody willing to teach an arrogant dude. And knowledge is a process of acquisition, accidentally or not.

We are know advertising claims are  largely manipulative, but we love to read them
I do not know if there is a cure for pickiness. Within my reach, I do not compromise. Let's me tell you, when you put your heart and mind into something, you will be surprise that you can actually go very far. And there will come a time that logic has very little meaning especially in audio. Tirelessly, I continue to experiment audio and room acoustics. Mixed results as always, 5 : 1  bad result against the good ones. I do get lucky sometimes. When confront flaw, correcting flaw after flaw will lead you to complication and eventually steering off course. U turn is the wisest decision. In all situation, the head will always be quick to judge, you know it when the head start assimilating audio jargon that you picked up from St....phile, The Absolute S....d, likewise. The ear takes a back seat, that's unfortunate. When in this state of mind, one becomes vulnerable to advertising claims. We know advertising claims are largely manipulative, but we love to read them, don't we? It gives us hope, it gives us joy. And we keep falling into it. The hidden message is your audio is never good enough! Einstein is darn right about imagination running wild.

It is my opinion, we should stop reading mags and go listen to live event. We fall victim to "audiophile approved" sort of thing. My favourite CDs in my collection are non audiophile approved. Big on musical value, reasonable recording quality. Ain't audio suppose to replicate live event as close as possibly can? Stop thinking but listening. Get back to basic, back to reality. Our brain works in a miraculous way, storing and retrieving sonic memory on a whim. You could immediately recognise the rightness when the sound speaks to you. So, work your audio toward that sound.

These days, I stop analysing sound. But working toward a sound that speak to me, without the usual audio mumbo jumbo. Crystal Gale's lonesome me is still singing in my head. Awesome bass tenacity like no others. Hearing is a natural gift, you can hear emotion, joy, anger, sorrow etc. My accumulated experiences quickly help me to identify area to address sonic anomalies.

Room acoustics, I could not emphasize enough. It colors the sound. Different room has varying coloring effects. Manage the room pays dividend, minimize artifact, transporting you to a surreal gothic dimension. I am happy that I could lend a helping hand improving the sound of my friends' system, orthodoxly. And I doubt if they can manage it the other way. These are my closely guarded secrets and I have no intention sharing them. Never wanting to be a ridicule subject. That's explain my slow posting.

Don't hate me because I am beautiful
A personalized sound, a sonic print that distinguishes you from the rest of the pack is a testament to "everyone has a different appetite for sound". I encourage you to go ahead attaining that goal. Don't let people words bother you, it is your system that you have to live with not they, period. A classic ending. Let me remind you that if you let people's word into your head, you will never achieve anything let's alone be happy. In reality, how many are confident in his audio quest?

Enjoy the show
I'm heading for KLIAVS tomorrow. Thanks for entry pass and tickets from my good friend. Take your time listening, enjoy the show. Good luck amigos.
