Follow the sound

I know my postings will ruffle some feathers. But if they make you feel uneasy, walk away, there are many things in life worth pursuing passionately.

My recent live concerts have been very exhilarating. The companionship of the people of common interest, mouthwatering dinner and the music. Live music is absolutely at another level than playback. Guess what? Ironically, a great majority of audio enthusiasts never attended live music. Their utterance on sound really makes them a charlatan. For whatever reasons, timing, companionship, not willing to pay for the tickets et cetera, people can come up with thousands of excuses. Well, that' not my problem.

What I gathered from live music is the unrivaled immediacy and realism. We see many talked about realism in audio but they are woefully out of their depth. All bluster and no substance, I don't want to be near them. As I have reiterated before, they're listening to the recordings, and the recordings are cleverly compressed. It's done in a way that you don't perceive it. In my opinion, our audio system an instrumental to play synthetic music, it satisfies our listening on one thing, at our convenience.

Follow the sound, not of our witting preferences. The uncompressed sound, you ought to listen to experience the energy and drama. Music is a powerful language, it speaks to you somehow and you don't have to be a musician to appreciate music. It sends chills to the bones, lustfulness at some time. It steers emotions, make tears, promoting endorphin rush and give us a memory that our playback can only recapture very little of that, what more with live streaming. Back in the days before live streaming, we learn the musicians, the story behind the music. These elements are missing these days.

Enormous details in live music, our playback can only dream of regardless the advancement of technology. Live music never introduces listening fatigue, our playback, live by the sword, die by the sword.

I would cut back on my cd purchase and attend more live music. Music enriches my life.
